enough about the superbowl already

Warning: Non-KLR related post follows...

Today is Superbowl Sunday, and I can't wait until Monday. The only news we've heard for the last 6 months from Detroit news outlets is about how great it is for the city that the Superbowl is here. Well, that and ANYTHING else that remotely has to do with the Superbowl. All I can say is, "please god, let it end."

Most of the hooplah around this GAME is that it's going to be an opportunity for Detroit to shine in the eyes of the world. I'm reminded of an old saying: You can't polish a turd. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Detroit is a hole. Patching some potholes and putting up fake facades is not going to make Detoilet a better place. Sure, getting rid of burned-out buildings is great at any time, but don't just do it 'cause of a big GAME.

All the fake "excitement" will end tomorrow, and the focus of the news again will be murder, rape, arson, and corruption. Thank god. At least all of that is real.
