new wave policy

With temperatures rising here in Michigan, more motorcyclists are braving the roads. And, with every passing of a bike comes The Wave controversy.

In the past, I have mostly been a proponent of waving to all motorcycles. This spring, however, I've had sort of a bad attitude. I think this bad attitude comes from thinking about all these "bikers" riding 'round in their SUVs for the past few months, and only coming out once the weather is perfect.

I think I've come to the realization that just because we're all riding two wheeled vehicles doesn't mean we have anything in common. I mean, how often do you see two mini-van drivers wave to each other just because they're in the same kind of ride? And just like I wouldn't wave to a guy in a truck with a motorcycle sticker on it (or, god forbid, a Ford F150 Harley edition), I don't feel like waving to Joe Dumb*ss out for his weekly three mile ride to the coney island and back.

Maybe I'm just being crabby, but I'm done with waving to every bike that passes. This may offend some, but as I've said before, I'm not out there to be the model motorcyclist. I'm just out there to ride.
