prehisterical

Got a great ride in yesterday. I headed out on dirt roads Southwest of Ann Arbor. Wound my way through rolling fields, and ended up on US-12 out in the Irish Hills. This area is an old 1950s tourist trap.

Many of the attractions are still there, including my favorite, the Prehistoric Forest. There's another place called the Dinosaur Gardens that I visited a few summers ago up on the East coast of Michigan. Down the road from the Prehistoric Forest is the famed Stagecoach Stop USA. It wasn't open for the season yet, but I did get a pic with Paul Bunyan.

Unfortunately, I had some KLR issues on the way home. Here's an excerpt from my MADS post:

Out for a ride on mostly dirt roads. Stopped after 50 miles or so for
gas. Filled the tank. A couple miles later, took a sharp right-hand
turn on a dirt road and mid turn hit some good potholes. After the
turn, said to myself, "Whew, that was close, almost lost it there!"
Then, the bike died and I coasted to a stop.

Got out tools to do some trouble shooting. Reached up to make sure the
plug wire hadn't come off, checked some other electrical connections,
then took the hoses off the petcock to take the tank off. After I took
the saddlebags and seat off, I noticed that there was a good amount of
gas leaking out of the fuel hose going to the carb. I sorta shook it
out, and cranked the engine a few times, then hooked it back up for
the hell of it. After a few cranks, she started back up and I rode
home with no problems.

If you know what could be the issue, please let me know!
